What’s up with Spotify?

What are you getting with Spotify’s latest price increase?

Recently, Spotify increased its price to £11.99 in the UK. The reason behind this is because of additional features, most notably Audiobooks.

On top of Audiobooks, is DJ – an AI tool that plays music based on your listening habits. That was released last year. More recently, Courses have been added. This is presumably to combat other services such as Masterclass and BBC Maestro. However, unlike Audiobooks, you have to pay to access the full content of a course. Maybe, in the future, they will be included as part of your Spotify Membership, most likely at another increased price.

You can save £1 a month by switching to the Basic plan. This will include the same features such as HQ-music and ad-free listening, but without audiobooks. Great for anyone who uses Spotify for music and podcasts.

In France, streaming services have added to increase their subscription prices to incorporate the Center for National Music (Centre National de la Musique) tax. The CNM is a public body that helps support music artists, venues, producers and anyone in the music industry. The increase will mean Spotify and Deezer subscribers will pay an additional 1.2% tax, or €0.13.
